You Can Travel Between Hong Kong and Macau by Air, Sea or « Land »

Hong Kong and Macau, the only Chinese Special Administrative Regions (SARs), are separated by the 30-kilometre-wide Pearl River Delta. However, it is possible to travel between both cities by all modes of transport: by air, by sea, or even by land.

The fastest, most convenient, yet most expensive way to travel from one SAR to the other would be by helicopter. For the price of 4,000 to 5,000 Hong Kong dollars per person, your pilot will carry you from one of the two heliports in Macau to the Sky Shuttle Heliport atop the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan.

Alternatively, you can travel by sea for about 190 to 245 Hong Kong dollars (as of 2026). Crossing the Pearl River Delta takes roughly one hour and will get you from the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal to the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Pier in Sheung Wan, on Hong Kong Island, or to the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, in Kowloon.

Last but not least, you can also travel by bus across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge for as little as 65 Hong Kong dollars (as of 2026). It is by far the cheapest, but also the slowest and least convenient way to travel from downtown Hong Kong to downtown Macau. Depending on the terminal you board the bus at, the trip may take about 1.5 hours.
