As of 2026, Hong Kong boasts a total of 569 skyscrapers taller than 150 metres (492 feet), making it by far the city with the highest number of skyscrapers in the world. Its closest contender, Shenzhen, which is also located directly across the northern border of Hong Kong, "only" has 468 skyscrapers exceeding 150 metres.

In fact, Hong Kong and Shenzhen together have a combined total of 1,037 skyscrapers taller than 150 metres. This exceeds the number of such buildings in the entire United States, which only has approximately 930 skyscrapers taller than 150 metres as of 2026.

Put differently, there are more skyscrapers in an area roughly the size of Rhode Island than in the entire United States.

Furthermore, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area—slightly smaller in total area than West Virginia—has a combined total of approximately 1,300 buildings taller than 150 metres (492 feet). That is 30% more skyscrapers than the entire United States. Adding to this impressive figure, there are currently more than 100 skyscrapers under construction in the region.
