James Bond Was "Killed" in Hong Kong

On June 12, 1967, the fifth installment of the James Bond series was released in the United Kingdom. James Bond, the world-famous British spy, then portrayed by Sean Connery, was dispatched to Japan after American and Soviet spacecraft had mysteriously disappeared.

On his way to Japan, he stopped in Hong Kong, which, in 1967, was still a British colony. As is often the case with James Bond, he ended up in bed with a woman he had met earlier. After they had completed their encounter, the woman pressed a button that levered the bed into the wall. Seconds later, two armed men rushed into the bedroom, and sprayed the bed with machine guns. James Bond’s body was found riddled with bullets and pronounced dead.

His funeral took place in the waters off the coast of Hong Kong, as he was buried at sea. However, as his casket hit the bottom of the ocean, divers retrieved it and took it to a submerged submarine. When they opened the casket, a healthy James Bond emerged, ready to continue his mission and save the world.
