On July 14, 2008, The Dark Knight hit the silver screen. In this second installment of the "Dark Knight" series, Batman leaves his hometown of Gotham City to fight crime in Hong Kong.
In a famous scene, Batman leaps from one building, stretches his wings, and crashes through the window of a second building to take down the villain’s henchmen.
The building he leaps from is none other than 2 International Finance Centre (2IFC), the second tallest building in Hong Kong and the 41st tallest building in the world as of 2026, standing 415 meters (1,361.5 feet) tall. The building he crashes into, on the other hand, is 1 International Finance Centre (1IFC), which stands at a much more modest 210 meters (688 feet) in height.
Interestingly, although clever editing leads viewers to believe Batman crashes into 1IFC, the action scene that ensued and the footage of the lobby were not filmed inside the actual 1IFC. Instead, they were shot inside The Centre, located 220 meters (720 feet) east of 1IFC, because the lobby of 1IFC was deemed too bland.
